Photo Shoot Preview

On Monday we held a little Easter picnic in our garden, and combined it with a photo shoot for some new Pointless Pretty Things products. It was so fun! I made a ribbon backdrop and set up a lounge area, and we ate lots of food and drank tea from teacups. Thanks to two of my beautiful besties for being wonderful models. 

I've been working on this new range of wedding accessories for a while now, and I am SO excited to finally release them next week.

Coming Soon - New Sparkly Wedding Stuff.....

Lots of exciting things happening in the studio this week! I am in super making mode at the moment, working on lots of new prototypes for the wedding season... I am right in the middle of designing and testing a few new lines for the Pointless Pretty Things shop, which will be released soon, but I just couldn't wait to share some sneaky pictures with you! 

Expect luxe, sparkly copper tones, new breeds of paper flowers, and most excitingly.... a whole range of flower crowns! I just can't wait to reveal them all soon, but for now - back to work...

Exciting news! My little Wood Slice Place Settings have been featured in this month's issue of Wedding Magazine! Can you spot them? This is the first time I have seen any of my products in print, so I'm pretty excited and proud :)

New Garlands in the Shop

I finally added my new paper garlands to the shop! My favourite is the "Yay you're home" banner, which started as a welcome home for Jake but has stayed up in our living room ever since. And you've seen the orange alphabet before, it lives above my desk. I have plenty of ideas for more garlands, and I will also be accepting custom messages - so stay tuned!

I just can't get enough of bold typography in home decor at the moment... Has anyone else caught this bug?

Pointless Pretty Party

Hooray - My Etsy shop is finally open! It's definitely just a baby at the moment but I have lots more pretty things to be added in the next week or so. I just had one of those moments where I thought "if I wait for it to be totally ready before I open then it will never open!" So here it is, a work in progress but something I'm very excited about building as I go along. 

In other news, you may notice the blog has had a little spruce up! I just wanted something fun that was a bit more in keeping with my style... Hope you like it, I'm still working out some of the kinks so let me know if anything is looking a bit weird on your browsers. 

Thanks for sticking with me over this busy couple of weeks... Sometimes I can be more of an over-thinker/planner than a do-er and having an online network of amazing people geeing me along is exactly what I need!

Creative Mess

At the moment I feel like I am buried under paper flowers and mini bunting. I'm loving it! Less than a week now until Pointless Pretty Party opens, lots to do still - I feel like the little train pushing up the hill in dumbo... I think I can I think I can I think I can....

Pointless Pretty Party - Opening Soon!

I'm very excited to announce that my new Etsy shop Pointless Pretty Party will be opening it's virtual doors on the 22nd July 2013... two weeks today! Behind the scenes it's all go with preparations, photo shoot planning and ordering of fun things like custom stamps and business cards. 

I am so chuffed that my little shop is nearly ready to be introduced to the world. I hope you like this little peek into the branding, I can't wait to see what's in store for this new adventure.

Shop Update

I am having so much fun planning for the launch of the new shop! I've been spending a lot of time planning product lines, getting to know the market and working on branding. The branding is my favourite, I love designing the bigger picture and thinking about what I want the experience to be like for customers! 

The process I am going through at the moment looks a little something like this:

>>> First product ideas through notes and sketches. 

>>> Making prototypes and improving them until they are sellable. 

>>> Setting pricing by working out all materials, packaging and labour costs. I am trying to get into the habit of setting an hourly wage for myself per product. It really helps to work out how to sell things at the price they are really worth. 

>>> Pulling together inspiration images into mood boards for branding. 

>>> Working on the design elements (expect a little blog redesign to match very soon!)

Something I am really excited about when I think about opening up is the possibility to do more custom orders. I love making things for people - especially for special occasions - and it's even better when I am making something that will be one of a kind and unique to them. I am getting really excited now, and can't wait to introduce you all to Pointless Pretty Party!
